JBAD Gets LEED Accreditation

An office-wide commitment to be green and mean it paid off last month
when the entire architectural staff of JBAD became LEED accredited –
that's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, by the way. JBAD
believes the use of sustainable design practices helps us accomplish
our goal of responsible building, and with the talented architects in the
office now retaining their LEED AP status, the firm is better equipped to
stay in the forefront of the industry with great architecture that promotes
green building principles.

But of course, JBAD's approach to LEED is characteristically unique.
Instead of integrating sustainable design into projects for its own sake
(just to do it and brag about it), or using green technologies or details to
determine the architectural character of their projects (beautiful solar
panels on an ugly building), JBAD sees environmental responsibility as
integral to a design-focused approach. That is, design still reigns, it's
just more environmentally conscious, taking advantage of new green
technologies and existing green practices. We understand that,
eventually , sustainable design will be mainstreamed, the green hoopla
will be standard practice, and we can go about our business about doing
great design without an artificial green filter.
